[opensuse] Google Earth on an up-to-date openSUSE 11.1
I just tried to run google earth on openSUSE 11.1, and it does not work. It stops with some error about my graphics driver not being installed correctly. I am not sure if that is the real reason, as I see this on stdout: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'QString' Google Earth has caught signal 6. It is: QT: 4.5.1-4.1 and 3.3.8b-87.11 KDE: 4.2.3 (KDE 4.2.3) "release 3" It has worked for me before. The difference mow could be versions of KDE/QT. You have to delete libcrypto.so.0.9.8 in google-earth dir
I replaced my unsupported (by ATI drivers) ATI card with a supported (by NVIDIA drivers) nvidia card, and now it works. I am guessing that when Google Earth did not find support for GL, things got out of hand. So, with a card that supports GL, the original unchanged install of Google Earth works as expected. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O.
