Pointing Yast at alternate installation sources
I've been trying to update my SuSE 9.2 box to a newer version of KDE. I went into Yast and attempted to add an installation source that points to ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.2/base/. I put ftp.suse.com in the Server field and /pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.2/base in the Directory field. When I click OK, it thinks for a while and then returns a message box containing the error "Unable to create installation source from URL 'ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.2/base/'. Details: ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media) Try again? What am I doing wrong? Thanks. -- Bill Lugg Milstar Software Support Peterson AFB, CO

You shouldn't use the 'base' directory, you should use the 'yast-source' directory as yast source. That will get you all the packages in the other directories under 'update_for_9.2'
Hi Bill,

Try this, put ftp.suse.com in Server field and put pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.2 in the directory field put pub and NOT /pub Regards, Chaitanya. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Where is this legend coming from? I *always* put the initial / on those directory paths and I don't have any problems. It does help if you use the right directory though

That's a declarative, not an answer. I don't have older versions of suse available for testing right now, so I can't say for certain that it wasn't the case in the past, but it certainly isn't needed now Using the correct directory has always been needed though

I always have been obliged to do so in all suse until 9.0 at least. I often forgot this and got error messages...

of course if the very small jpg I attach go through the list, you will see the suse 9.0 error message. it's nice that this won't show again, it was very boring... jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr

When I do that Yast2 adds a second / and ten fails to add a new source. Rich
