Wierd StarOffice 5.2 behavior
After mounting my floppy drive, I tried to save two documents directly from Star Office word processor and spreadsheet. When I tried to save from the former, I got this error message: "Write error saving document <name of document>. Write error. Error writing file" When I tried to save from the latter, I got this error message: "Error saving document <name of document>. General error. General input/output error." I had no problem copying them from the directory where they are kept to the floppy disk. Is this a Linux problem or is it a Star Office problem. It is a pain in the arse that should not be produced by Linux or a Linux application at this late date in the development of Linux! -- dj tuchler dtuchler@earthlink.net

I haven't had that problem at all. Pardon my question: are you **really** mounting the floppy? I ask this question because, on more than one occasion, my mind isn't where it should be: I insert the floppy in the slot and am amazed that I can't read it or write to it. Oh, yes, I inserted the floppy, but didn't mount it... In this respect, I wished that Linux were like M$, you don't have to bother with mountings... And since I'm still in the Department of the Obvious, is the floppy writable (in the sense that the lock isn't on)?
