Hello susers Any experience to share running Oracle database and IAS9i in SuSE 8.0? I saw in the SuSE web site that only old versions are "certified" with Oracle. Cheers.

It takes a long time certify a distribution. I think only SLES is going to be certified from now on. -- -ckm
Hi back again, Anyway, any experience running Oracle 9i and IAS9i in SuSE 8.0? Success histories? Any hell-disaster histories? On Tuesday 04 June 2002 00:00, Christopher Mahmood wrote:

I guess I left my point out of the previous post, sorry. I haven't heard of anyone doing this, at least on suse-oracle, and, given that they wouldn't be able to get any support from Oracle, I don't imagine too many people have. You may want to ask over there anyway just to see but there's nothing in the archives. -- -ckm

Have you tried posting to the SuSE Oracle list? It is quite active... -- 6:26pm up 2 days, 23:10, 1 user, load average: 0.03, 0.03, 0.00
We had a discussion with Oracle the other day and they said the don't support SuSE anymore?!?! Only Redhat...Specifically RH Advanced Server. Ron Cordell wrote:

WHO said that??? BS. Where do you think the most recent certifications - see http://www.suse.com/oracle/ (or http://metalink.oracle.com/, but this site requires an Oracle support login) - come from??? And have you seen that when you download iAS 9i R2 from OTN they list specifically (and only!) SuSE Linux as the required OS? (Of course, RH will be certified too) Michael
Hey, don't hit me :-) Oracle was here the other day and installed Oracle for RH Adv. Server. Since I am running SuSE I wondered why the did not install that instead. But NO, he said they do not support SuSE anymore, only this RH ... But I don't care, I never used Oracle myself... /Magnus Michael Hasenstein wrote:

WHO was there from Oracle? At least what function they were and where they were from, not necessarily names. I would like to follow-up with Oracle on that one!!!
Seems like I missunderstood what the guy said. He said Oracle focuses on Redhat Advanced Server. They still support SuSE though... Sorry about that, Magnus Michael Hasenstein wrote:

Not wishing to poke my nose anywhere it does not belong...But I would contact Oracle corporate, or whoever the sales contact is for confirmation. Matt
