All, Does anyone know of the whereabouts of a wu-ftpd rpm for Suse 8.1 (i586) version 2.6.2 ? Lenz used to say that the standard ftp daemon was the wu one but I don't think it is any more. rpm.pbone doesn't have it and I can't compile the source for the target machine (my compilers make i686 binaries). I'm also unable to use xinetd which the RH version requires. Anyone know ? Do you need wu-ftpd specifically? OpenBSD ftpd is and "install and run", no configuration required, package, just as wu-ftpd. The rpm is called ftpd..rpm. Why are you unable to use xinetd? -- Linux/Unix Systems Engineer http://www.genesys.ro Phone +40723-267961
Silviu, I know it sounds odd but here's why ...

wu-ftpd is our Corporate standard. Personally I don't really care which, but in this case I must comply. I use ftpd elsewhere.
Why are you unable to use xinetd?
xinetd is not used an Solaris or HP-UX which is where most of my fellow sysadmins are coming from. As far as possible, I'm trying to standardise on one Linux distro with a uniform configuration. This helps the general acceptance of Linux in the enterprise. I can use xinetd but in our business standards are highly respected. Thanks, (and still looking...)
