I have problems getting a new ethernet card working on one of my machines, It is a Jensen card with a Realtek driver(rtl8139.o). When I use Yast2 to set up my card i get this error message at the end: 'These errors occured during saving configuration: Device eth0 is not running'. I have installed the driver which was included with the card. Some excerpts from logs: Boot.msg: Setting up network device eth0 modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth0 SIOCSIFADDR: No such device modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth0 eth0: unknown interface: No such device modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth0 SIOCSIFBRDADDR: No such device modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth0 eth0: unknown interface: No such device modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module eth0 SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device done Setting up routing (using /etc/route.conf) done lspci: 00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. <snip> What happens when you type "modprobe rtl8139" at the console? Can you locate the driver under /lib/modules/kernel-version? John

Go to SuSE help database (not the mailing list archives) and search for 8139, they have a "howto fix it"... I had a similar problem. Let me know if that doesn't help, but Hope it helps, Alvaro Novo SuSE 7.1 Pro -=- Kernel 2.4.7-4GB -=- KDE 2.2-beta1 11:28pm up 1 day, 6 min, 3 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
