Hi all, I seem to have run into some interesting crashes and wonder if others would experience the same thing. Two sites I have found that some strange things occur. The first site listed gives a Sig 11 crash when trying to print (CUPS). Funny thing is, if I turn off "Embed fonts" in qtconfig printer tab, it prints without problems. Here is the first site and I will include the back trace file output below. I thought maybe it was a bad SuSE qt3 rpm, so rebuilt from the src.rpm, which didn't seem to alter my findings. http://web2.altmuehlnet.de/fschmid/ ----------------------------------- The next site just brings Konq and printing down to their knees and only Ksysguard or skull & crossbones removes it. Here is the site: http://www.ecsusa.com/products/l7s7a2.html Kindly see what experience you have when trying either site. Most other sites I have tried print without problems, at least I have not run into others so far. thanks Graham I was pretty sure it had been introduced with 8.2 because if I remember, I had no problems with it in 8.1 either. In fact I still have printouts of the ECS site while using 8.1, but before KDE 3.1.1 installed. So that narrows it down to either QT3 or cups? Hey bud, Yeah, I thought about adding that info about 2 hours *after* I sent the first reply! LOL! Sorry about that. It's a plain stock 8.2 setup (last update done by YOU 3 days ago). Printer is an Epson Stylus C60. I didn't even have it hooked up to the system when I installed 8.2, but a few days later hooked it up, and through YaST got it going no problem. It was just the webpage(s) itself you wanted to have others test print, correct? Or was it something on the page(s) in particular? I just printed each webpage after it finished loading, and like I said before, I just did it in draft (to save colored ink), but if you want, I can try it full color and see what happens. I also did it from Konqueror, as you asked. If you're looking for system specs too, just in case, I have an Shuttle AK35G (IIRR), 256MB DDR, 8.2 on an 80GB primary master, 8.0 and W98SE on primary slave, DVD-ROM as secondary master, CD-RW (Acer) as secondary slave, SBLive 5.1. Let me know if you want me to do a full color print of each page, I'll do it if it'll help you any better. John - -- A butterfly is: Pretty,soft,harmless...and useless, just like M$N. Ok, thanks John, that does help and make me wonder now if the bug was introduced during some of the KDE update files from SuSE. I may try compiling the KDEbase file also since there have been some bugs in the kdelibs3 & qt3 files. I don't have any problems with Mozilla printing either, it's just Konqueror in color that gives the problem. If memory serves me correctly though I have tried just draft and grey output with no more success than color. Yes it was the entire page I wanted to test. Thanks again Patrick -- --- KMail v1.5.1 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

http://web2.altmuehlnet.de/fschmid/ http://www.ecsusa.com/products/l7s7a2.html There you go John, try not to lose them again! :o) That's odd on the build number as I am running 3.1.1-76 from SuSE right now. Oh by the way SuSE, your src.rpm is bad and will NOT compile! Did you get your update from SuSE or from KDE.org? I could not find a -63 build number in SuSE's files. Since your build is in fact different though and the src.rpm won't compile, then I suspect that the build is defective (-76). Thanks for helping to test John. There you go John, try not to lose them again! :o)
That's odd on the build number as I am running 3.1.1-76 from SuSE right now. Oh by the way SuSE, your src.rpm is bad and will NOT compile! Did you get your update from SuSE or from KDE.org? Okay, both sites printed in color just fine, as for the version number of kdebase3, all I did was do an update with YOU from http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse. I don't really look too hard at what I'm getting, other than to make usre it's not a huge download (the big ones I start just before I go to sleep at night), so all I can guess is that it's what it downloaded for me and installed. Wish I could be of more help, but I'll do what I can, and you're more than welcome, this is small payback for all the help I've received from you guys on this list, so don't never be shy to ask me to help out in some way. Ok, John, thanks that help me settle the problem. It seems that the kdebase3 build -76 is defective as is the src.rpm that SuSE has on the ftp site. After installing the -63 build you have from SuSE's update site, I was able to again print the sites from Konqueror without mishap! My display of the sites was not as good, but that may be due partly to the mix of files I have in testing. So, problem solved it would seem! Build -76, located on the SuSE KDE ftp site, is defective. Hopefully this problem will be corrected soon. Thanks, Patrick -- --- KMail v1.5.1 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
