[opensuse] opensuse 11.2 & dell latitude D830
I'm trying out the 11.2 live kde cd on my dell laptop. Not sure where to find the wireless network card setup to see if I can get it to work. I have not played with opensuse in a while. I must have wireless networking working so I want to check it out on live cd before I took the time to install onto the hard drive. Has anyone used this laptop with wireless yet on 11.1 or 11.2. thanks Jack Malone Network Administrator Horizon Industries Office: 903-590-4305 Cell: 903-283-2629 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Jack, Dell tends to use Broadcom chipsets I'm pretty sure. You cat try lspci from the live CD to verify that. If so, you can see if these instructions work for you: http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Network_Adapters_%28Wireless%29/Broadcom_BCM43xx If not, this page may be useful: http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Network_Adapters_%28Wireless%29 I don't think either of those pages has been updated for 11.2 yet, so you may be ahead of the game at this point, but hopefully the 11.1 info will apply at a minimum. I have been using SLED10.2 in the past till my employer went straight Microsoft due to new CEO so now I do not have access to anymore sle or sled from novel. I never got wireless to work under that but now I need to get it working to use here in office at time an at home. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Has anyone used this laptop with wireless yet on 11.1 or 11.2. Dells are a nightmare on opensuse. Something to do with licences. You can use Ubuntu or Backtrack for the broadcom to work out of the box. If you have loadsa time there is a one click 11.2 broadcom here (one of many attempts- just search):
