Trying again. Put rawphoto in: /opt/gnome/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins and make sure it has root ownership.....user and group.
Put dcraw in /usr/bin and the permissions are the same, EXCEPT that dcraw is executable.

Thanks Fred, I've done as you suggest. However, rawphoto is in /opt/gnome/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins but it doesn't show up in gimp2 menu Xtns/Plugin details; should I reboot or something? How do I use this rawphoto plugin in the gimp?

Gimp needs to be restarted to re-read it's plug-in's. another options is to locate rawphoto in ~/.gimp-2.0/plug-ins/ with you as owner and owner,read-write-execute. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711

I did as you suggested and it shows up! Now how do I use it?:0) Also if I make the one in /opt/gnome/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins excecutable do you think it would show up in Xtns/Plugin details? Thanks, Jerome

You take a photograph in RAW mode with your digital camera, import the RAW (orf extension with oly boxes, others I know not) file onto your hard drive or access it directly from the camera or chip-reader with The GIMP. The entire purpose of the rawphoto plug-in is to be able to read RAW mode photographic image files. Was this not your purpose in installing it?

It should. Did you look at the permissions of the other plug-in files? Much knowledge is available via a small look-around. Try it. Get your feet wet. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711

I will do it! I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helped me get through this. Jerome
