[opensuse] wierd behaviour of xmms all over sudden
Hi all! I have this mp3 i made from a wav file a long time ago. Its been working perfectly up until today. Suddenly, as i play it in xmms its nothing but static and noice. It plays about two seconds, and then its total garbage. I suspected a corrupt file (maybe a disk goig bad or something), but mpg123 plays it perfectly. So does WinAMP under windows. Its only xmms that fouls. xmms plays other mp3's perfectly, so does amarok. What shall i look for? -- /Rikard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- email : rikard.j@rikjoh.com web : http://www.rikjoh.com mob: : +46 (0)763 19 76 25 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >

You should look for sox or some of the other mp3 utilities not produced by suse. I found while converting wavs to mp3s for ringtones that it is possible to produce mp3s that will play on certain players but not others. Usually a resample is necessary. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

But why has that same particular track worked for the last year in that case? Besides, i used lame. Which to my knowledge isn't SuSE If i switch from ALSA plugin to either esd or arts, it works as expected.. By some obscure reason ALSA stopped playing this particular mp3 "out of the blue". I haven't made any updates for a while, so its not a new plugin... -- /Rikard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- email : rikard.j@rikjoh.com web : http://www.rikjoh.com mob: : +46 (0)763 19 76 25 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >
