If I remember right (I had this problem in the past), it is related to libdvdnav. Downgrade the libdvdnav package to some earlier version. Cheers -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

If the above doesn't fix the problem you may also need to create a dvd symlink in /dev pointing to /dev/cdrom. I had to in SuSE 9. Haven't installed it in 10. -- ...Yogich

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to get this to work on 10 without much success. Got the software from Packman's web site. In the above, could you explain?? I have symlinks already for dvd and cdrom They are both pointing to the same device. Or are you meaning for me to make a symlink that points the dvd to the cdrom symlink? I am confused on how that would work. Could you please explain a bit more? Thanks!

If you already have a DVD link pointing to /dev/cdrom then you have already done what worked for me (ln -sf /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd) and I am afraid I can't help, much. I know i had to fiddle with the command line a little bit b-4 I got it working correctly. I finally made a batch file which would back anything up. Alas, I don't know what I did with it when I changed to SUSE 10. -- ...Yogich

Hmmmm... Wonder why that would work? I will try this and report what I find. Thanks for the explanation.

Hello, Thank you for the suggestion. I tried that but unfortunately, this breaks other software in the system and gives me the same error. :( Do you remember what version that you had to install to get this to work? I am running SUSE 10 with the software needed for this from Packman's site. If there is another repository that may have what I need to get this functional, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks! BTW: I don't recall the version, no. It was on SuSE 9, though, if that helps at all. -- ...Yogich

I went to Packman's site last night and this AM and the version for the software was the same for all versions of SUSE. Went to rpmfind and found an older one but that was the one that busted other software in the system. I am just puzzled on why Pacman would have something up on the site that did not work correctly?? Since I have installed all dependant software that this program needs from the same site? **scratches head** Oh well. If the other suggestion does not work, then I guess I cannot use this program at the current time and will wait for an update.

I use SUSE 9.1, and libdvdnav 0.1.9-63 from the base package. Cheers -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

It was not in the packan repo, but in the base of SuSE. So, maybe with the newer versions there are changes, and libdvdnav is not part of the distro any more, I do not know. But for sure dvdbackup was not working with 0.10 version from packman. You may try to send them an email, it's on the site. They are responsive guys. Recentrly I send them a report about wrong build, and they fixed it in 2 hours :) -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

Well looking at the one that I installed this AM, it is the same one that wanted to bust dependancies. :( Got the other response asking me to email them and I will try that. Thanks again!
