[opensuse] status report - installation of 12.1 on IBM blade with PXE+root on iSCSI went well
It's hardly the most widely tested functionality, but I can report that installation and booting from iSCSI works very well in openSUSE 12.1. (at least on this hardware, IBM Bladeserver). One slight problem in YaST (bug#725182), but once the patch was applied, that worked too. I had a bit of trouble getting the kernel command-line arguments right: root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-.... targetaddress=<iscsiserver> targetname=<iscsitarget> I have no idea where the last two are documented, but google and the source code helped me get it right. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (13.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Per, Sounds like you have a new wiki page in your future ;) en.opensuse.org I would put it in the SDB: section. Click on this and you will have created a new page! http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=SDB:Installing_and_Booting_from_iSCSI&action=edit Of course, then you have to fill it in. Hmm, when I try to login, I end up with if it doesn't get through: http://files.jessen.ch/page-that-isnt-redirecting-properly.jpeg -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.6°C)

I don't know why? Maybe the url I used was bad. I just created a skeleton page: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Installing_and_Booting_from_iSCSI (kill that page if you don't like the name) If you can see that, then there should be a login button in the upper right corner. Once you login, then in theory you can edit the page. fyi: When the new wiki came online a while back, my edits were not visible unless I was logged in. Later they started showing up for all immediately. I don't know if that's true for everyone, or if someone put me on a approved editors list or something like that. Right, until I try to login, it all matches - when I enter userid+password, and hit login, I end up with the not redirecting properly message. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (11.5°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What about older pages like: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:SSD_discard_%28trim%29_support Can you login and edit that? Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Same result. I am assuming I can use my regular opensuse id (otherwise also used for openfate, voting, and bugzilla) ? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.4°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

that's what I do, but I set it up years ago, so I may not remember any extra steps I took. Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
