Keycode, Itouch Logitech keyboard and KDE : How can I assign some keys with fonctions ?
I have a Logitech Keyboard Itouch with some key-functions like Volume, Switch Track, Launching Browser, Launching Mail Client.... After completing my /etc/X11/Xmodmap with Xfree variables, I am delighted to use Kcontrol Center to assign some of these variables to functions like launching evolution, Netscape, xmms... I know how to do that with sawfish but I did not see that on KDE 3.05. Could you advise me how to configure KDE in order to get the function-keys working ? Arnaud

Hotkeys are assigned in the KDE menu editor, however this will only work in KDE. If you use more than one window manager/environment, I suggest using Jerukey: http://jerukey.sourceforge.net/ Charles -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+V8XB3epPyyKbwPYRAioXAJwMy0fm8RHLADS+h329jNqAek2hFgCgqKUq QOp/8TeOuYMqB1guqyI4peU= =Gyo7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

jerukey looks like a dead project (no activity since dec 2001). you may want to take a look at lineak (lineak.sf.net). you can use it with one of the already defined keyboards or use xev to figure out keycodes and build your own configuration for it (like i did for my logitech elite keyboard). side note: does anyone know why the logitech elite keyboard sends different keycodes when used as a ps2 keyboard as opposed to a usb keyboard? some of the 'keystrokes' are actually sent as mouse events in usb mode.. -- trey

I know that, but it just works.

I know that project. but I still prefer Jerukey becuase: (1) You can bind more that one program to a key, (2) XOSD support.
