Yes, I know what's up. You installed it as root in non-networked mode. So the files belong to root and you would have to do a seperate install for each user. If you are the only user on the box then just do this. In your /root directory rm the file called .sversionrc. The remove the directory that you installed StarOffice into..after this you can install it as yourself (user) and I would suggest (depending on the space you have) to put it in your home directory or in a pre-made directory you own. You could (as root) make a directory called /usr/local/office52 then do this (as root): chown yourusername.users /usr/local/office52 -R This will let you install the office package into it. You can then make a shortcut on your desktop (KDE or Gnome) or add it to any menu in any WM you choose. If you have any issues..I am sure that someone here will add something to what I have said. Ben, do you ever sleep ? About 7 hours ago you responded to a post of mine within about 10 minutes of sending at what I guess was past bedtime where you are. Sheesh I thought I was chained to this thing, but you have got me beat. Geoff _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? At least for SO 5.1, you have to do an install for every user. If
there was going to be only one user, install as that user. If more
than one, do a "network install" as root and a "user install" for each
user. Fire SO up as root, select Help>Contents>User
Guide>Welcome>Installing StarOffice. Read this section for details.
