Hello, I have installed Suse 7.3 and setup the scroll mouse by adding Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" and imwheel & in ~/.xinitrc. The scroll works except that I do not know how to control the number of scroll lines. I have tried the setting in KDE control centre to no effect. Could someone tell me how to set the number of scroll lines. Many Thanks! Anthony
Experiment with the ZAxisMapping. Im pretty sure, 4 is horizontal scroll and 5 is vertical scroll or vise versa. David M. On Monday 03 December 2001 07:42 am, you wrote:

No, the 4 and 5 are just the button numbers. One for up the other for down. If you want to change the the scroll amount or better yet would like a SMOOTH scroll instead of the standard jump scroll goto the authors web site for tips on how to setup imwheelrc (the config file). There is nothing in kde that will let you configure imwheel. You really only need imwheel if you want the above mentioned SMOOTH scroll in non-kde apps or want the acroread pluggin for netscape to be able use the mouse scrool. Most everything in kde will scroll via the wheel as long as you have XF86config set up right. I wish kde would incorrporate the SMOOTH scroll available ve imwheel. It's REAL nice to be able to actually read AS you scroll. In kde it JUMPS - MAKING your eyes loose place. Regards Mark
my bad, sorry about that, you are right, But I do remember experimenting with the ZAxisMaping once and when the numbers were higher, more lines were scrolled up the screen at a time. I am thinking now that this must have been on my RH system. David M. On Monday 03 December 2001 11:20 am, you wrote:

I thought the "4 5" referred to buttons 4 and 5 which are mapped
to the roll up and roll down actions on the wheel. I don't know
how to control the amount of scroll, but I'm following this
thread to see if someone else does.

Maybe /usr/share/doc/packages/imwheel/README can give you ideas. -- Togan Muftuoglu
I use the imps/2 driver. Here is an extract of my XF86Config file: Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" Option "InputFashion" "Mouse" Option "Name" "INTELLIPOINT MOUSE PS/2" Option "Vendor" "MICROSOFT" Option "Protocol" "imps/2" Option "Buttons" "5" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection You can control the amount of scrolling in the KDE Configuration Tool, Section Devices/Mouse, the advanced tab. Obviously this relates only to scrolling in KDE apps. If you have other questions you can go to this page: http://koala.ilog.fr/colas/mouse-wheel-scroll/ It contains everything you need to know to make the wheel work in most apps.
