XF86 4.2 corrupt /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype/fonts.scale
Has anybody else noticed an error when SuSEconfig trys to update the truetype fonts? I'm not looking at the exact message, but it says something about /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype/fonts.scale being in an invalid format.

Got the same too, now we have three or more people reporting the same thing... Weird. Matt

I was getting this during bootup when X Font Server started. After I done the thing with XFS starting in the suse readme file for XFree86 4.2, it stopped, but still have "Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype, removing from list" in the last two lines of /var/log/XFree86.0.log. It is probably related. Looks to me like one of the config files or links did not get updated, but which one. Hi, Are you using XFree86 4.2.0? It seems this version is less forgiving about empty lines in the fonts.scale file than previous ones. The problem is with one of the fonts.scale.* files in the truetype font directory. I believe it was fonts.scale.efont-serif-ttf, but I am not sure. Check this (and the other) fonts.scale.* files in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype/ for empty lines and remove them. Run SuSEconfig again and the problem should be solved. This worked, but you have to check all font.scale files, perhaps now my anti-aliasing will work again? Perhaps... Matt
