problem with printer setup in 10.0
Dear list members: I can't set up my printer in suse 10.0 using yast. Yast recognizes my printer correctly as /dev/lp0, model name OK. I select it and click "add". Next I choose parallel printer from the list. Then I click "test the printer connection" and get this: "There was a problem while sending the message to the printer. The operation has timed out." I don't really understand this. I used the very same printer in 9. 2 and 9.3 and they had no problem with the setup at all. Furthermore the system recognizes correctly my printer model and that it's connected to the parallel port. What should I do next? (I have my opinion about the new "fixed" printer setup in 10.0 but that will be another post.) Please help, Thanks, IG ________________________________________________________________________ Halld és lásd a 20. századot! IIRC you need to reboot after setting up the printer when using a parallel port. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998
