Hi. Still running Suse 8.2. When I log in as a user, gkrellm shows 2 users logged in. In shell, the "user" command shows "currentuser currentuser currentuser", three times. Thats it. My 9.1 install on a different box shows only one user after the "user" command. Am I hacked? -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim@jjfiii.com
I doubt it. Run who and you'll likely see something like: %> who currentuser :0 currentuser pts/0 currentuser pts/1 % The pts is a pseudo terminal. I have apps running in three of the four "virtual" screens.... and I have the above. Rich On Fri, 2005-04-29 at 19:01 -0500, Jim Flanagan wrote:

So you mean to tell me, that my 2 year old install of suse 8.2, patched by suse you, is still not hit by virus, worms, or other unpleasant critters?! Linux sure can strain your paitience, but is has its rewards! Many thanks,, -- Jim Flanagan linuxjim at jjfiii.co

Like anything else, you have to learn how it works. When you approach Linux coming from a Windows environment, you have to constantly repeat the mantra "I don't know jack about this stuff", if you make the assumption it's some sort of Windows clone, you are up the same creek as a fixed wing pilot getting in the cockpit of a helicopter and assuming he can fly it, they both can fly, they both have instruments, some the same, cockpits and controls, but you aint going nowhere until you learn how to fly a helicopter. Excellent analogy, Sid. I like it. No, I don't know how to fly and I'm sure I never will :-) but it strikes me as a brilliant piece. -- Take care. Kevan Farmer 34 Hill Street Cheslyn Hay Staffordshire WS6 7HR
