Hi We have experienced strange k-mail freeze-ups. XFree86 and KDE is the latest downloaded 2-3 weeks ago. Base system is SuSE 7.2 What we have found, is that sometimes when there is few programs open (k-mail, staroffice, kwintv and konqueror in different desktops), and then we open a PDF with acrobat, then close the pdf and acrobat, k-mail has frozen, and has to be killed. We did try today to really push the acrobat / k-mail, but we could not crash it in any way.. Had tenths of program open, drag kwintv all over the place, and did all weird stuff that we can imagine, but no.. it worked fine. Does anyone know any problem that could relate to this one? Jaska.
I get this sometimes too, and not just with Kmail, also with Konqueror. When it happens I've usually switched away from them and either try to switch back or expose the window in some way. I might get it once a day, occasionally more, and it seems to happen even more frequently if I use more than one virtual desktop. Both of these apps have a common denominator in the khtml widget, so I wonder if the problem is there. I'm not running base 7.2 though, as I removed all the KDE2.1 and QT rpm's and loaded up the new ones for QT 2.3.1-54 and KDE 2.2.1. Do you experience toolbars forgetting their button states too? Not with the mainstream apps like konqueror and kmail, but more with Koffice and some of the lesser known apps. John On Tuesday 30 October 2001 2:13 pm, Jaakko Tamminen wrote:

Hi We have not experienced any other weird stuff than just the k-mail freeze. As You said, it comes when switching back to that application. It will draw the "exterior" of the k-mail window, but the rest is not drawn, and it may even be so, that it is "transparent", so only the frame is drawn. Jaska. Viestissä Tiistai 30.
