[opensuse] VMware module compiling mystery on openSUSE 11.2
I have a strange thing happening on my openSUSE system: stdarg.h gets deleted. It is repeatable. It happens each time I do a kernel update, and then run VMware Player, which then recompiles the VMware kernel modules: # find /usr -name stdarg.h /usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.4/include/stdarg.h /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-mingw32/4.5.1/include/c++/tr1/stdarg.h /usr/include/c++/4.4/tr1/stdarg.h # Run VMware Kernel Module Updater # find /usr -name stdarg.h /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-mingw32/4.5.1/include/c++/tr1/stdarg.h /usr/include/c++/4.4/tr1/stdarg.h I need to run this to get the file re-installed: # zypper in -f gcc44-4.4.1_20090817-2.3.4.i586 In keeping with the tradition of me having one-of-a-kind problems, I am guessing no one else has this problem... I am running VMware Player 3.1.1 build-282343 The kernel is whatever is the current one for openSUSE. Each update of the kernel leads to a repeat of this. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. Maybe you should upgrade? I'm running 3.1.2 build-301548 and it does not happen to me. -- Jos van Kan registered Linux user #152704 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

# Run VMware Kernel Module Updater
And log what it's doing, for instance with 'strace -f -e trace=file' and then grep the trace. If the updater is a script, run it with 'bash -x' and grep the output. Either should show you when stdarg.h is removed. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
