[SLE] PIIX4 not 100% native mode, will probe irq's later
What does this mean? This message is output by kernel at boot time (SuSE 6.3). I've never seen it with earlier kernels (5.3, 6.0, 6.1). HDD seems to work Ok, so could this make any harm? My hardware is Gigabyte GA-6BXDS mobo (Intel 440BX) with dual-Celeron@450MHz and IBM Deskstar 13GB IDE HDD. This is just a diagnostic message. Nothing to worry about.

Ivan, How well did 6.3 install. The reason I ask is that I have had no success with my own m/c. (Based on the same mobo) But with an IWill DS100 I had no problems. With my GA-6BXDS system, it get as far as installing all the packages and hangs in a loop of some sorts. The last time I tried it, I left it for about three hours and it was still looping!! Any ideas? -- Regards Derek Ryan -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

I took a quick look in the source and the printout means that the PCI IDE controller isn't 100% native PCI and so the interrupts can't be determined at that time, they are later of course. It looks like a work around for poor hardware design but I can't claim to be authoritative. /Michael -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
