[SLE] SuSE Linux and my Mac ?
Need to understand the PPC version as I'm using my Mac now. Does the sources of apps like say qt compile smoothly like the i386 version of SuSE ? Thinking about SuSE on my upgraded 8500 of course :) /Dee -- W.D.McKinney (Dee) -=- deem@wdm.com **The Network is the People** -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

Yes, they do. At least the ones on our CDs do :) This was one big part of the work. A lot of source packages out there are quite Intel-centric, since this is what most developers do. We found quite a lot of issues which did not work on PPC and had to be fixed.

Many apps compile cleanly. Otheres need some massaging. If the author used any inline x86 assembly, you've got a problem. Other times you'll hint endian issues between x86 and PPC. I've rebuilt probably 50 SRPMS on PPC, mostly successfully, and mostly with limited problems. Stew Benedict On Mon, 23 Oct 2000, W.D.McKinney wrote:
