Dear All, I just downloaded the Knoppix 3.3 iso image and thought I created the knoppix boot disk cd with K3b but I only have the iso image written onto it. What must I do to write the iso image to disk? I am a newbie at cdwriting and researched this all day but found nothing that answers this. Thanks. Sincerely, Marcia

What I do? just put my iso image in desktop ( or from his directory) and a left click of mouse youll get K3b opening ready to create your Knoppix CD. I hope you must be using KDE becaus I do it in KDE On Tuesday 04 November 2003 22:34, marcia wrotE

You need to make sure that you are choosing to "Burn CD ISO image" under K3b. If you just burn a CD from the *.iso file that is what you'll get: the entire *.iso file on your CD NOT the contents in a (usually) bootable form. "Burn CD ISO Image" will then open up the normal burn CD window and you can choose the *.iso image you want to burn and viola! And yes, I do have several coasters from my learning experience. Stan

Where did you download it from? I wasn't able to from their home page. Thanks, Jerome
http://www.knoppix.net/get.php is a good mirror list. At http://knoppix.com you need to get past the software patents announcement and drill down through the download area. Stan

Thank you for all your help. I bought the CD instead. I tried downloading
last night from two different sites. One I let run all night using
broadband but could only get 1.0 Kbps Was downloading this slow for you?

[top post left as is...} Most of the mirrors are slow, but the latest I got about 21K/s. Other places I get 234+K/s. There is no need to post directly to me, I did not request it and I read and post to the list (and this should be obvious). -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org
