Why do you want to use netscape? Seamonkey (mozilla) is just like it concerning the interface, but is very fast and secure. Also, as far as I know, Netscape for linux is still at version 7. -Steven

That's an odd question isn't it, "Why do you want to use netscape."? I use Netscape for certain things, Mozilla for other things, and FireFox for different things, and Opera for still other things, because I want to do things that way. It's (FOSS) about choice isn't it?

Netscape 8.x is a hybrid made by AOL from Firefox and IE. Since IE requires windoze, I doubt there will ever be a Netscape 8.x version for anything other than windoze, unless the decide on some way to add a Mac version. Besides, Netscape 8 is only a browser with junk added for the benefit of dweebs who use doze and want AOL-like features whether or not they use AOL. Netscape the ISP is just like AOL the ISP in that it uses proprietary connection software that precludes use on open source operating systems. Linux users who think they want Netscape actually want SeaMonkey, which is the current version of the application suite that provided the basis for Netscape 6 and Netscape 7, except that SeaMonkey leaves out the Netscape junk add-ons and adds the new and improved features that Mozilla would have had had it not been discontinued (security bug fixes are in the plans for it, but no development or feature changes). -- "Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord." I went to seamonkey because I kept having firefox stall on me. This happened especially on yahoo sites, movies.yahoo.com for instance. But seamonkey doesn't have all the plugins yet, forecastfox doesn't work, I use it daily with firefox! -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800
Actually, I want Netscape because it seem to be the only browser that I can get WebMO to work on for my research. On Saturday March 25, 2006 4:01 pm, Felix Miata wrote:

I have no idea what WebMo is, but if it works/worked on Netscape, and now doesn't work on Firefox or Seamonkey, open a bugreport. /Per Jessen, Zürich
