PCMCIA (which has worked on every version since 6.3) totally broke on one laptop and Sax2 is a disaster on both of them. Every once in a while, I get tired of tweaking config files by hand.... if the 2 laptops are anythign to go by, SaX2 has taken a large step backwards. Also, if FTP is an option as the source of installation anywhere, I have failed to find it. That's nearly criminal. I thought every reasonable feature of yast had been put into yast2..... that's a big one that's sorely missed. PCMCIA did some weird stuff on the other laptop to.... once we got the modem working, eth0 is now skipped during pcmcia start ("Don't worry, it will be started later"... yeah, right). Some flakey stuff with KDE3 too, but I can put up with that. </tired-complaint-mode> OTOH the installer rocks. I love the new web-page-style main page. I'll have a better feel for it after I put it on a desktop or 2, but over all I'm somewhat depressed as far as SuSE-Linux-on-the-desktop is concerned. Hopefully I just "happen" to have two laptops that don't have well-supported hardware. No comment on the fact that they worked fine on previous versions of SuSE..... Not found it yet either, so sent an e-mail to that place Chris setup for us. I agree, its an awesome little thing to have and I miss ity too. Would be nice to ahve something very similer.

Cannot comment on that, no PCMCIA here...

Yeah big step forward, but I am seeing why it merited the 8.0 status, and I don't mean for negative connotations only. I managed to get around that mouse issue by putting mouse directly into computer and not through a hub. It doesn't. The major changes are internal, like a complete change of what used to be the /etc/rc.config system to now be LSB compatible (now that LSB defines something). KDE 3 is another one, although personally I couldn't care less just who draws the frame around my application windows... Michael
Then please send the disks to me... Then I don't have to download the disks Bob -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: RR [mailto:landy@despiertapr.com] Verzonden: vrijdag 26 april 2002 2:35 Aan: fm@cupserv.org CC: suse-linux-e Onderwerp: Re: [SLE] 8.0 arrived!
