[SLE] changing sendmail's FROM_HEADER
My SuSE machine has the domain firewall.miltonstreet.com, but I would like to be able to send mail out from the sendmail server on that box and have it say it is from activex-dev.com. A few days ago someone told me to modify the FROM_HEADER in the rc.config to acitvex-dev.com, thus I did. The problem is that sendmail is still sending mail out from <user>@firewall.miltonstreet.com. What else do I need to do to get sendmail to behave? -- Sam Carleton ------------ http://www.bigfoot.com/~scarleton (Homepage) http://www.uptimes.net/hostinfo.html?hid=1218 (Linux Box) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Did you run "SuSEconfig" after making the change and did you restart sendmail after SuSEconfig created the new sendmail.cf file? You might try fiddling with the masquerade_as setting. Victor On Wed, 9 Feb 2000, Sam Carleton wrote:

Try sending via SMTP to your own system (from your email program) and then sendmail out to the ISP. That forces the message into an ESMTP format from what I have seen and seems to work (I've had problems using just a straight STMP format for messages). Also set up the FROM_HEADER if you can in your email program.
