2.6.1 kernel won't boot
Hi all, I'm trying to build the 2.6.1 kernel for my SuSE 9.0 laptop. When trying to boot the kernel from lilo the screen just goes blank and the whole machine locks up. Only a hard reboot can free it up. I then have to go back to my original kernel (which obviously boots fine). Anyone any ideas? Sorry if this sounds a bit vauge. Is there any more info I could provide? Thanks.

You said build, so I am assuming you are building from source. Check your .config. Run make xconfig in the source directory. Assuming you have your /etc/modprobe.conf set up correctly, it should work. I ran 2.6.1 for a while (presently using 2.6.2). BTW, why are you not using the 2.6.2 source instead. I have found 2.6.2 cleared up a few small issues for me and has run quite well. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. As for 2.6.2, I've been messing about with .1 for so long now, I hadn't realised the .2 had been released....lol I think i'll give that a try now and see how I go on. Thanks
