So everybody should just give shit to you for no real reason.
Ha.
Believe or not, but yes. I started my 'wulf project about 18 months ago. In that time I've had people from all over the world sent me all types of parts and whole computers. Allot of what I've got has come from the SuSE list. These are a great group of people (can't say guys, there are a few girls on the list <G>). Yours is the first negative post I've got in these 18 months. I just got last week a 15" monitor from a guy here in Germany. A friend in Holland sent me three whole systems last June. So far I've got parts from Germany, Holland, UK, Canada, US, Japan, and Israel. Over all I've gotten enough to build 5 486s or PIs. I'm not asking anyone to run downtown and buy anything for me. In fact that is not the idea at all. Today there are millions of dollars of useable computer parts just laying around or worst being thrown away. What I am doing (and showing) is that these parts are not only still usable, they are still worth using.
Anf if anyone has a spare Cray for me.. I am working on a port :) Happy Whatever

Don't have one at the moment, but I was offered a PDP 11 (/45 or /70, I don't remember which). But I turned it down because I could not afford the shipping from Texas to Germany. Right now I'm at the point of having enough working systems to start trying out the software. Over the past 18 months (more or less) I had to learn how to build systems from parts and how to network them together. I plan on starting with Mosix software, then I will work with SuSE's "salt" software.

Lets see.. "non_profit"? Well yes and no, if you mean money in the hand then yes it is non-profit. But if you mean learning anything then it's been very profitable so far. "Common_Good Research purposes" -- mmmm that's a good one. I would have to say yes to it. Because since I started I've got a newbie's email list going for Beowulfs. I think it's been helpful. On the idea of "common-good" here in the EU starting in about a year you must recycle your old systems, no more throwing them away. So when I take parts I'm saving you from having to pay for recycling. Also I plan on is trying to show how to recycle old computers. By the time the recycling starts I want to be able to show someone the way to build a usable recycled system. <p>Hope you had a merry Christmas and Have a happy New Year! <p>Jim Hatridge hatridge@straubing.baynet.de Proud Linux User #88484 Owner -- beowulf-newbie list Don't blame me I voted for Harry Browne! www.lp.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jim's Beowulf Project Looking for giveaway computers and parts I need it all!
