Hi, I have a remotely controllable smpppd running on a SUSE 9.3 host. We have various SUSE releases (<=9.3) connecting to it just perfectly. The only smaller issue is, that while logging the connections ini- tialized from another comps in our network, I see no user-names in the respective logfile, just "", where e.g. "username" should stand. Is there please a trick to log also remote usernames?! (On all of our comps we have exactly the same usernames and uids.) A part of my logfile, /var/log/smpppd/accounting.log, first connection was started locally, the second and third one remotely: 2005-10-02 19:58:14 modem0 u om "uninet" "balage" 2005-10-02 20:04:08 modem0 d om 586731 79517 2005-10-02 21:35:42 modem0 u om "uninet" "" 2005-10-02 21:40:59 modem0 d om 969032 149400 2005-10-03 20:10:22 modem0 u om "uninet" "" 2005-10-03 20:13:16 modem0 d om 380740 57010 Thanks, Pelibali

Sorry to say but there is no trick. The username can only be determined on the local control socket but not on the remote port. ciao Arvin
