[opensuse] /etc/zypp/repo.d: Does it work when copied from old to new install?
Hi, To solve a grub fs recognition problem, seems to take more time than a new install. I want to use the repos already installed. When i copy them to the new installation, will they be accepted, and show up in zypper and Yast? I ask this, because moving .mozilla and .thunderbird into a new user /home brought up the dialog: Firefox, (or) Thunderbird already running, close first. Which could not be done, because they were not in use. For Firefox there is no problem, because sync puts all in place, but thunderbird is another story: EVERYTHING (all filters, folders, add-ons, when not owning an imap mailserver, all mail is gone.) has to be configured again. (i do not understand why there is no sync option for that...) Kind regards. -- Have a nice day, Oddball. There might be a "lock" file in those directories, just remove it and try again.

The "...is already running" message is generic. It may in fact be that FF/TB is already running, or that it was unexpectantly closed, either of which results in a lock file existing. However, that message is also is used when there is a file access problem, which is a not uncommon result of manual profile manipulation, such as copying profile data to another user. e.g., ~/.mozilla/firefox/firefox.ini might contain: [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=myff IsRelative=0 Path=/home/myname/.mozilla/myff Default=1 IsRelative=0 means the profile is hard-coded to a particular location. To move it to a new location requires the Path= line be adjusted accordingly. Otherwise the app will look in the indicated location, and in all likelihood encounter lack of read and/or write permission on profile data it needs. Lines within prefs.js in the actual profile directory may also contain non-relative locations. Wherever that occurs, it needs to be similarly adjusted to the new location. The profile migration process these apps offer, when used, takes care of such adjustments automatically. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." The strange thing about this 'lock' is, that i moved .ff and .tb to another location, deleted the user/home, created a new user with the same name, and placed the files back in place, in the new /home.
