Im having a SuSe linux 7.3 with 512MB RAM and dual PIII 600 mhz box, The problem is that my memory is always full, not buffered, full I have nothing in top that takes up more then 1mb max of memory and not very much of them. Processor is around 0.3 all the time but memory is full. This isn't very funny, is there something that I can do ? System info is root scsi 512 MB RAM dual PIII 600 700gb of data in 3 IDE raid arrays. /Daniel

Something like this? 2:06pm up 35 days, 23:38, 8 users, load average: 0.10, 0.04, 0.01 264 processes: 262 sleeping, 2 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped CPU states: 7.9% user, 9.8% system, 0.0% nice, 82.1% idle Mem: 1029500K av, 1015620K used, 13880K free, 0K shrd, 10948K buff Swap: 650624K av, 109324K used, 541300K free 723208K cached Note the "723208K cached" entry. The system is using free memory to cache stuff, rather than letting it go to waste. :-) -- Rachel
Dear list, I've just been installing Suse 7.3 using Yast2 on a AMD K2/300 and everything went fine until the configuration of the monitor. The monitor is within the list (CTX-VL700) so I select it and pres "test". However, then then screen becomes much smaller, with two wide vertical stripes on the right side. These stripes also contain part of the screen, so the screen is repeating itself on the right side. The main screen is blue, the stripes are red and green. During the whole setup, everything was fine. Also, the boot manager is working fine, using the full screen. Futhermore, the mouse is active over the whole physical screen; it's not that you see your mouse being repeated within the red and green stripes. It's probably a simple configuration issue, but since I am new to Linux any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kind regards, Riemer Brouwer
I have been using a CTX-VL700 for some time now, you need to enter your own settings for optimum use.. 30-70 Khz Horizontal 50-160 Hz Vertical You don't specify what graphics card you are using nor the resolution that you are using... If you supply this info together with your XF86Config file (/etc/X11/XF86Config) as an attachment then we may be able to assist further.... regards Pete On Thursday 04 April 2002 16:51, you wrote:
