I am assuming that you are using KDE4. If so, the go to Configure Desktop>Notification>Gamer and select the No Sound (or some such). Thank You! That killed the beep, but also nixed the double-tap. Double-tap without the eardrum-splitting beep would be nice, but for one or the other, my coworkers prefer the no-beep option =) In general, is there a way to disable the system beep in xorg.conf? - Adam -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That's intended. It's a feature :-p

Nop. Do you want to kill the X server or not? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. To directly allow the zap to work (instead of hitting it twice) I think
you can :
Option "ZapWarning" "off"
in xorg.conf
