YOU Update Problems - SUSE 9.2
After I installed SUSE 9.2, I ran YOU successfully. I have also installed a few apps off the DVD since then. However, I have not been able to update since the initial update and my application installations all had errors, but seem to work fine. Someone suggested rebuilding the database, but I'm not sure how to do that. Where do I learn more? The error messages from tonight's attempt look something like: ERROR(InstTarget:E_RpmDB_subprocess_failed) warning: /etc/bogofilter.cf created as /etc/bogofilter.cf.rpmnew rpmdb: PANIC: Invalid argument rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from dbcursor->c_put: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from db->sync: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from dbcursor->c_close: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from db->sync: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from db->cursor: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery rpmdb: fatal region error detected; run recovery error: db4 error(-30982) from db->get: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery Thanks, Don -- DC Parris GNU Evangelist http://matheteuo.org/ http://chaddb.sourceforge.net/ "Free software is like God's love - you can share it with anyone anytime anywhere!"

Thanks! I was looking for info on Yast - not RPM. Helps to know where to look. ;) Don -- DC Parris GNU Evangelist http://matheteuo.org/ http://chaddb.sourceforge.net/ "Free software is like God's love - you can share it with anyone anytime anywhere!"

Try 'rpm --rebuilddb', and also try to reinstall the Yast packages from the
CD.
