Does anybody know how to get a packard bell radiocard working?
I tried kradio but it does not find any radiostation.
If the software seemed to work, but no stations were found, then the problem may be the receiver sensitivity on the card, or signal strength from the target stations (which is two ways of saying the same thing, really). I have a TV card, for which I could run the software but which gave me no channels at all. To test if the problem was signal-related, I connected an X10 camera system. The result was that I could see the output of the camera on either channel 3 or channel 4 (the two output options for the X10 receiver), which told me that other signals for broadcast TV channels were simply not strong enough to be picked up by the lame little receiver on the Hollywood-clone TV card. Yours could be an equivalent problem with the radio receiver. I don't have cable, so I was hoping that I could use the broadcast signals that my household TVs were receiving with no problem, with just "rabbit-ear" set-top antennae. Other peple using the same card have reported success, but they were all using cable as their signal source. Try using cable as your input (if you aren't already), and if that is insufficient, try using an amplifier in front of the card's inputs. You can do that by getting something from your local electronics store, and then returning it for a refund if it doesn't work (so... don't buy anything that's marked "Final Sale"... :-) HTH /kevin
Hi Kevin, Thanks for your answer.

I tried it with windows just a few minutes ago and it worked, so it must be the software. I have no idea wich module I should load or where I can change settings.

At this moment I use the wire antenna but when it works with linux, i might use the cable connection :-) --Kees
I have no idea wich module I should load or where I can change settings.
I tried: linux:/etc # insmod -n radio-aztech Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/media/radio/radio-aztech.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/media/radio/radio-aztech.o: unresolved symbol video_register_device /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/media/radio/radio-aztech.o: unresolved symbol video_unregister_device What does this mean? What can I do about it? I think I need the aztech module. --Kees
linux:/etc # insmod -n radio-aztech Try the following instead [note I take no responsibility for any problems arising etc etc etc etc]
modprobe radio-aztech This command tries to get all the necessary modules loaded to allow the radio-aztech module to load AND loads the radio-aztech module itself. I don't have a radio card, but this works for me with other things [with a different module name, of course!] Take care, Jon
modprobe radio-aztech
This command tries to get all the necessary modules loaded to allow the radio-aztech module to load AND loads the radio-aztech module itself.
In /etc/modules.conf it says now: # Radio (Packard Bell Aztech Radio) alias radio radio-aztech options radio-aztech io=0x350 (I found that somewhere) modprobe radio gives no errors. But kradio still does not find any station. I give up for now. I will start windows some day, to see what settings are used. Perhaps the io address 350 is not ok. --Kees
