Hi. I think there is some problem with the dbus python libraries in opensuse 10.2 beta2. I have these rpms installed: python-2.5-11 dbus-1-python-0.71-25 dbus-1-0.95-4 When I try to follow the python dbus tutorial it fails at the very start: Python 2.5 (r25:51908, Oct 23 2006, 17:59:17) [GCC 4.1.2 20061018 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. private) File "dbus_bindings.pyx", line 1693, in dbus_bindings.bus_get TypeError: exceptions must be strings, classes, or instances, not type However this succeeds:
d = dbus.SystemBus()

Pyrex had some hiccup as we moved to Python 2.5 for OS10.2. The above issue is already fixed [1]. OS10.2 RC1 comes with the fixed packages. Thanks, Timo [1] Pyrex: not compatible with Python 2.5 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221342 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Hi, I raised this query before, but not sure if I got it handled correctly. On a Suse 10.0 system (also true for SLES 9), I would like to protect some software xorg-x11 (or kernel) from being updated in order to avoid conflicts with the hardware. I did try to invoke yast2 - software - online update, search for x11, and from the YOU Patch option, select Protected - Do Not Modify. I noted however that all the packages on the right panes are grey-out, so suspect the above selection do not take any effect. I also selected yast2 - software - software management - Filter - Search - x11 - selected the package xorg-x11 - right click and set as protected. But clearly the package has been updated in one of the automatic online updates, as the /etc/X11/xorg.conf has been reset, and the display was broken as a result. Can someone give me a definitive way to ensure certain packages can be excluded from automatic updates? Thanks a lot. Thanks man. I hadn't even noticed that RC1 was out. The world is spinning quicker and quicker :-) I'll check it out. -Torvald -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
