I just bought a new PC. AMD 1200,LiteOn CDRW,LG DVD,... The prob is I'm still waiting for SuSE 7.2 as I still have to use my SuSE 7.0. I used maximum default installation (all groups marked) with office. The only option I selected manually was the S3 Virge server,as I still have to use my S3v 4MB and not my new Matrox G450. Before I had no problems with configuring the S3V using Sax and Sax 2. But now Sax 2 crashed. Sax1 did the job,but what is wrong with Sax2? Can it be USB or my on=board Sound and modem> All are now deactivated. Thank's for helping... When does SuSE 7.2 hit the Belgian shelves?I'm waiting... Jean-Paul Faessen

For Jean-Paul and Peter that are having trouble getting their video modes set and using Sax2, this may help you as it did me. If you are trying to run Sax2 from KDE or X, don't. Logout to the Console mode or run level 3 I believe and login as Root and from there run Sax2. That has been working very nicely for me lately as after I did some online updates to the system, Sax2 refused to work running in KDE. Hope that helps some. end of line Tracer -- ---KMail 1.2--- SuSE Linux v7.2--- Registered Linux User #225206 /tracerb@sprintmail.com/ *Magic Page Products* *Team Amiga* http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb

Hi there! I have the same problem ,the only way to use sax2 was to use option ally@linux:~ > sax2 -q means quick start without checking hardware or type sax2 --help and see all the options and just try. Are you trying to set Xfree 4.x.x server ?,it bombed out on me(sax2) while saving configuration but set the links correctly so I just edited Xconfig file by trial and error until it worked.Reason while I had to update to Xfree 4.x.x was that version 3 could not handle kde2 konqueror drag&drop and leaving streaks accross the desktop ,also svga server the SuSE prefered server for this card (S3V) would give black&white Netscape toolbars and so on. I `d like to hear if you have/had similar experience. Have a fun Alan

Alan, Just an FYI..Netscape 4.X isn't too fond of 24bit colour which is what cause it to have black&white icons and the like. If your getting that effect then your card was being put in 24bit mode. Try 16bit or 32 bit if you card handles it. All one really needs is 16bit colour anyway..most games prefer that mode anyway. I can't comment on the other stuff...because it hasn't happened to me.
