[opensuse] "don't likes" in opensuse 10.2
Hello all: I have installed opensuse 10.2 and alltogether I find it pretty neat. But there are some things I do not like and I think they should be changed: 1. From the YaST Install Sources window they removed the up and down buttons. Why? It was really good when one could change the order of install sources usnig these buttons. 2. Graphic card / monitor setup is still awkard. The lastest version where this process was clear was 9.3. Since that the configuration is a pain when the offered defaults are not working. Related question: I have installed the NVIDIA driver that I've downloaded form NVIDIA site and compiled. Now how can I switch between the linux default nvidia driver (nv?) and this one in sax2? I cant find any option. Cheers, IG ____________________________________________________________ Karácsonyi ötletek bibliája – Praktikák, trükkök, fogások. There are instructions on the nvidia site where you got the driver, on the download page. It is some command line to sax2. I do not have the command line in my head. So please check nvidia's site. I did it on 10.2 and it did what it said on the tin.
Cheers, IG

sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia should do it. Enjoy!

Things I've not liked so far: Suspend doesn't work properly, the keyboard shortcut on my Dell no longer works. If I select it from the KDE Start menu it shuts down but when I power the machine back up it doesn't prompt for a password and just goes straight into my desktop. Not ideal for a laptop. Also it doesn't remember WEP keys, I have to type it in every time I want to connect to a WLAN. My wobbly windows aren't working under XGL but the Cube is. Everything else so far has been fine, it's quicker than 10.1 so I'm happy with it. I'm assuming that it won't be long before the other problems are fixed. That is - I beleive - a KPowerSave function. You might want to check there.

Just out of curiosity - did you have the WEP keys assigned using KWallet? That's how (under 10.1) I got them to be recognized so when I switch from my home WPA lan to my work WEP lan there's a seamless change.

I'd like to see someone doing photo work with wobbly windows.. :)

After a few drinks, I think the wobbly windows cancel the effect of the alcohol. Perhaps useful in some areas. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems AB Ramböll Sverige AB Kapellgränd 7 P.O.
