I appreciate the response, however I am aware of these drivers. The problem is that A) there are not specific drivers with the 2.4.x install (there are for 2.2.x). B) after searching man and info files there's a generic joystick by page by the developer that instructs mod compile - that was done at initial install and I would need to recompile the kernel to do so - hence the SuSE kernel HowTo. C) upon running either insmod or modprobe for the joystick I get unresolved symbols - hence a kernel compile to correct. D) The joystick is attached to a usb port and when ckecking the usbmgr the joystick is listed and identified. I can use the joystick section in the old 7.1 manual that has specific for getting it to function from the usb port (I'm running 7.2). If I'm not mistaking the joystick drivers must be compiled in the 2.4.x kernel, since they aren't preloaded (except in the 2.2.x version). Therefore, I need to get a driver for a Wingman Extreme Digital or find the SuSE kernel howto (the one that gives information on cloneconfig, mkinitd, etc...).
