http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/postgresql/ 8.0.3 only so far. but maybe the postgresql maintainer has time for it. but keep in mind 8.1 is beta. so he might not package it. with kind regards marcus

No, because the script is just the .spec file which we already publish within the Source RPM. Ciao, Marcus

Perhaps you like to build postgres yourself if you have the tools to compile it anyway? It comes down to typing "configure" and "make". OK, perhaps add some configure parameters that fit your needs. This way postgres gets installed in /usr/local/pgsql where it belongs. ;) You could even run it parallel to the older SuSE version on another port AND with another data directory!. No big deal, really. The only issue I had on OpenSuSE 10.0 was to find the gettext-devel package on a external package-repository because its - for some reason or another - not in the DVD-ISO.
i work with ... ./cofigure make make install but sometimes i dont like to make this, sometimes i like to do a rpm -i postgres*, and thats all. in my company i use the source, because i configure postgres in my way, but in my house i only do tests with postgres and linux. i format my HD everym week, making test, and i dont like to use the source in this case. excuse my bad english.
