scroll limit with shift+pageup/down
Hi all, Can some one please tell how to regulate the number of lines that are buffered when I cat a file to my terminal? Where can I set the limit? I need a lot more number of lines to stay in the pageup/down buffer than currently my 129x80 console permits me to. I'm not sure, but it's probably compiled into the kernel somewhere. Have a look around the kernel source. HTH... -- David Smith Work Email: Dave.Smith@st.com STMicroelectronics Home Email: David.Smith@ds-electronics.co.uk Bristol, England GPG Key: 0xF13192F2
Why not just use the command less <filename>. Then you can use the cursor keys as well as pg up/down. On Tue, 2003-02-11 at 05:43, Dave Smith wrote:

Wouldn't it be easier to just use 'less' instead of 'cat'? - -- Mitch Thompson, San Antonio TX // WB5UZG Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) http://home.satx.rr.com/mlthompson Independent Amsoil Dealer http://amsdealer.webhop.biz GPG: BBDA 3A2A 4483 BD0D 7CED B8A9 D183 C8F6 B0AF 66AE wget -O - http://home.satx.rr.com/mlthompson/pubkey.gpg | gpg --import - -- "Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. Yes. I guess that a poorly phrased question is clearly answered here. Thanks. An additional advantage of shift-pageup/down is that you have outputs of commands, commands themselves and other things that you can copy/paste from there... yes, that was really why I asked. Sorry for that. And thanks again - in advance to those who can answer this one. Meanwhile, shall dig into kernel sources. -- Rohit +9122 5692 2101 D2,floor-3,Chandivali : SDE : TLSI : 9821394599@bplmobile.com The information below is compulsorily added for non-mahindrabt recepients. ********************************************************* Disclaimer This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and is protected by law.
