Waiting for device /dev/sda3 to appear
Hi, I am a newbie to this SuSE environment. Unfortunately I am given a task that already took me weeks and it is to install RAID0 on a 2U machine server. Some information of the server Intel SE7501SE Motherboard On board 39320A HostRAID SCSI Controller Adaptec 7901 4 x 37 GB SCSI Since I am setting up this machine for database usage, I need the biggest space that it could effort. So I used RAID0. According to the adaptec website, I need to use a320raid driver but it only support up to SuSE 9.2. Using the setup at the bios, I create an raid array comibining all the four harddisk but the installation CD just stuck in the beginning of the boot up. Then I combined just three of the harddisks and make the 1st harddisk as the root partition. I could install suse 9.2 but then I end up with this message Waiting for device /dev/sda3 to appear.. not found --device nodes [ some text] No root device found. Exiting to /bin/sh Note: /dev/sda is the 'un RAID0' harddisk. I googled around and tried using command mkinitrd. I gave me message something like this. Cannot determine dependencies of a320raid. Is you module.dep up to date? I am already lost here and I hope you guys could help me out. Thanks in advance. __________________________________ Yahoo! You are aware that if one disk dies, the whole array is dead, right?

If it's a driver for kernel 2.6, it'll most probably also work in SUSE 10.0.

OK, so you've updated the INITRD_MODULES list to include the a320raid module?

I think that's just a warning - did mkinitrd otherwise complete? JUst try it - run lilo, then reboot. /Per Jessen -- http://www.spamchek.co.uk - managed anti-spam and anti-virus solution. Sign up for your free 30-day trial now!
