i am using export foo=foo but when i reboot variable is lost, am i missing osmething
If you are typing export foo=foo in a shell then it will be lost when the shell terminates. If you want it in your environment everytime you start a shell (and if you use bash) then stick it in ~/.bashrc. RR writes:

Put it in a file if you want it to survive a reboot, for example /etc/profile.local (if it doesn't exist create it) or ~/.bashrc fredagen den 5 april 2002 23.20 skrev RR:
