As I've seen nothing like this across more than a dozen 13.1 installations, I have to guess it's locale, theme, or font related. I'd first try a different monospace family than your currently selected one. Try Droid Sans Mono and/or DejaVu Sans Mono, especially if the current selection is Misc Fixed. If it's not that simply solved, try creating a new login user to see if it has the same problem.

When I've been faced with that kind of problem, and yes it seems to happen on updating a distribution or the X drivers, its always a terminal setting or configuration problem and nothing to do with the application itself. -- How long did the whining go on when KDE2 went on KDE3? If so, you would expect the same problem in many other applications, not just Konsole. But Konsole has a long standing bug of ignoring Geometry settings, (because its handled elsewhere). If its true that the user is actually running Konsole under XFCE4, then perhaps the problem has to do with the XFCE4 low level display driver, or that KDM is not running. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks for reporting. I'm happy owner of a display that has similar problem when it is used VGA connector, but no problems with digital video input, DVI. With VGA it is trying to set top left point of the screen to the brightest pixels; bright part of splash screen ends at the top left corner, and the following desktop is moved as well. Auto button brings everything to normal. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If you are using Konsole, you are using KDE whether you know it or not. Perhaps you could verify that it is indeed Konsole you are using, and not the native Terminal app within XFCE? -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
