If anyone does not mind downloading the following 19 MB file: http://www.libsdl.org/extras/win32/cross/mingw32-linux-x86-glibc-2.3.tar.gz can they explain why if I try to open it with Ark or preview in Ark via Konqueror 3.51 it gives an error of "unsupported file format" but if I do a tar xvzf operation on it, it expands out quite neatly? Oh BTW did anyone notice that after upgrading to KDE 3.51 right-click creating zip files creates a *capital* extension ZIP? Hmm..may be a bug in your version. I am still on 3.4 with Ark 2.5.2 and the file downloaded, opened, and extracted with no issues. HTH! -- kai www.perfectreign.com linux - genuine windows replacement part

What speed is that? 1 MBps?

I dunno - I suck at math. That's why I went into programming. In actuality, I have a 3000/768 plan. Running the netspeed.stanford.edu test from my laptop (over wifi) I get... running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 701.98Kb/s running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 2.40Mb/s Your Workstation is connected to a Cable/DSL modem ...not bad. Not as nice as at work (over an OC3) but acceptable.

KDE 3.51 with Ark 2.61 here.
Sounds like there's a six-legged creature running around in there. I'd go to bugs.kde.org and report it. -- kai www.perfectreign.com linux - genuine windows replacement part

Very nice! I love your website - "maintained using Kate." I'll have to put that on my sites. :)

Just to balance things, I get the same error as you. Ark 2.6.1 on kde 3.5.1 (x86_64 SUSE 10.0). So why this works for an other with the same kde and ark I dont know, only thing I kan think of is the 64 bit os. Do you have x86_64 aswell? Iz
