[opensuse] Conflict of interest
The smart package updater wants to upgrade amarok plus a couple of other applications but when it tries there is an error message which then stops all processing in its track. The error message is: file /usr/bin/reset from install of libmtp-0.2.3-2.1 conflicts with file from package ncurses-5.5-42 Can anyone suggest a way out of this problem? (I tried taking libmtp out of the equation but then other dependencies are affected :-( .) Cheers. -- Past experience, if not forgotten, is a guide for the future. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Basil, That's worth reporting. Nothing should conflict with ncurses. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Basil,

Thanks, David. I peeked inside the rpm and saw that Marcus Meissner is one of the authors of libmtp so am sending a copy of this message to him as a "bug report". There is a bug :( although seems you are installing a third party libmtp package , our official package of libmtp7 also contains /usr/bin/reset which seems to be wrong :( Marcus, any comments ? ;) -- "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." --Albert Einstein Cristian Rodríguez R, Core Services SUSE LINUX Products GmbH Research & Development http://www.opensuse.org/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Marcus, any comments ? ;)
Where did you find the official libmtp7? I checked factory and 10.3 and no libmtp7 in sight. I did find it in packman's repository, and with that rpm there are no conflicting files. -- Gruß Andreas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

right, only in factory libmtp7 exists, not on 10.3, but the conflict does exist there :( -- "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." --Albert Einstein Cristian Rodríguez R, Core Services SUSE LINUX Products GmbH Research & Development http://www.opensuse.org/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Just to make sure that there are no misunderstandings, I forgot to mention that the problem I quoted that I am experiencing is with SuSE 10.2, repeat 10.2, and not 10.3 (although it would appear from the comments that 10.3 is also affected). I have fixed it for Factory now, will be checked in soon I hope and then go away. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
