I already configured a portuguese keyboard in console and in KDE and GNOME, and the accents work right. But in WindowMaker the accents don't work. For example the 'cao' which as a ~ becomes like this: c~ao Any help? Where do i configure in order to have a portuguese keyboard in WindowMaker? Thanks to all in advance Joao Reis

I am using this command to switch between US and Polish keybords in WindowMaker: setxkbmap -layout "us,pl" -option "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle" Ctrl-Shift toggles keyboard layout between US and Polish If it works for you, you can add it to your .xinitrc file Regards, -Kastus

Sorry, forgot to mention, use "pt" for Portuguese instead of pl for Polish. Regards, -Kastus
Hi Kastus!
Ok, I tried that on my Suse 9.0 Professional distro, but the X server
crashes whenever i try to login.
Something is missing ..... Any ideas ?
Thanks

I suggest you configure the keyboard via sax2. Then the selection will be saved in /etc/X11/XF86Config and used by the X-server (kdm) even before you start KDE or Gnome. Personally, I think it is a bug in SUSE 9.1 that the keyboard definition used during the installation is not automatically written to XF86Config. I had the same problem with the Swedish keyboard. Moreover, the Swedish keyboard selection didn't work for the default installation. It worked for the manual installation. -- A.M.
