You should look into Quanta and Bluefish.

I'm a total newbie at web design and I've been tinkering with IBM Homepage Builder for Linux. It works, seems pretty straightforward, has some bugs so I've been using "Web Design In A Nutshell" (O'Reilly Pub.) to fix and clean up what it writes. It seems to write code that works great when using Konqueror as a browser and sometimes screwey when using Netscape as a browser, but this may be a general problem with browser compatability. Just my $.02 On Tuesday 01 January 2002 07:49 am,James Bliss wrote:

This is one of the major complaints I have had with other web design tools (such as FrontPage or Netscape Composer). I have stuck to tools like Quanta or ASWEdit because they only do what you tell them to - bad code is your own fault then. ;-P So, how badly does HomePage Builder mess things up? What is it inserting that is a problem? Clayton -- This is Linux country. If you listen carefully, you can hear Windows reboot...
Whlie both of these are excellent, not much like Dreamweaver at all. Garret James Bliss wrote:

Quanta and Bluefish are html editors, but they are not "GUI" (or more correctly, "WYSIWYG") by any means. Linux has a few WYSIWYG web development programs, but none are as good as Dreamweaver (unfortunately). I expect this to change. In the meantime, the few options you have include: StarOffice Mozilla Composer Netscape Composer Amaya I've tried all of the above, and they will at least allow you to design a basic web page. Anything designed in Amaya should work with any browser, since Amaya is the standard bearer of the World Wide Web Consortium, but I don't find Amaya to be very elegant. I haven't yet tried IBM Homepage Builder for Linux. Is it good? - Robert Storey
There is one more that you left off the list, WebSphere Studio Homepage Builder for Linux. I've used this one as a trial. It's very impressive. Anyone interested in designing their site under Linux should take a look at it. http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/hpbuilder/linux/ LPH http://www.killertux.com On Tue, 2002-01-01 at 19:45, Robert Storey wrote:

As far as I know, SuSE does not offer a normal instalation iso. (I think there is something in the faq about this). The do have a Live iso, which is kind of a demo which runs from the cd. You say you have a fast connection. Then you do not need to even make a cd. Just install it via ftp. On Tuesday, January 1, 2002, at 10:33 PM, SirDuron wrote:
