H, (I am using SuSE 7.2) For some reason, when I boot the system, smartups doesn't start up properly. It reports the following error: =============================================================================== Jun 26 09:44:49 avalon upsmon[684]: Unable to login to localhost: Access denied =============================================================================== But, If I wait until after the boot is complete and run the init script manually, it works OK: ========================================================================== # rcups start Starting genericups: Network UPS Tools - Generic UPS driver 0.50 (0.44.3) UPS type: CyberPower Power99 Network UPS Tools upsd 0.44.3 Network UPS Tools upsmon 0.44.3 UPS: localhost (slave) (power value 1) Using power down flag file /etc/killpower ========================================================================== One thing I tried was to move the startup script to later in the boot sequence: mv S10ups S99ups but this didn't help. Any ideas? -- ____________________________________________________________________ Robert Paulsen paulsen@texas.net
OK, forget this question! Turns out that it also didn't work right when starting it manually. I was fooled because no error message shows up on the console, just in /var/log/messages. Turns out I needed to fix the "grant" in upsd.conf. On Tue, Jun 26, 2001 at 10:03:53AM -0500, Robert C. Paulsen Jr. wrote:
