Hi It is now two days since I installed 6.4. I didn't receive any reply/comment to my previous posting, so I'm assuming noone cares, but I'll tell you what happened anyway. I had a perfectly running 6.3 installation (running without a single problem for several months) which I upgraded using YaST. This caused me enormous problems. KDE crashed several times causing the whole machine to hang (yes, I tried telnetting as well), and even in run level 2, without graphics, the machine crashed. I also had a weird problem where the machine changed hostname every 10-15 minutes. I eventually did a fresh install, after which there has been no problems (touch wood). Conclusion? More work needed on the upgrade function, otherwise an excellent distribution. I don't regret switching from RedHat, but it would be nice to be able to upgrade seemlessly. I like install fests as much as the next guy, but if I am to recommend it to my clients... This sounds weird indeed.

I think the upgrade problem comes from packages changing names or being split up into several smaller packages (like fetchmail that has become a package by itself - before it was part of another package). When you upgraded then, you suddenly had to manually select fetchmail for installation afterwards.
