I'm still trying to gt my IBM intellistation sound working. When I try the coinfig in Yast I get this message. An error occured during the instalation of 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset AC'97 Audio controller The kernel module snd-card-intel8x0 for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. This module is found in /lib/modules/2.4.10GB, but I've rebuilt my kernel.

This message is caused by a few things. Either YaST is trying to install the wrong driver, the parameters needed for the device to work are not being correctly used by the driver,or some other hardware is sharing the same set of parameters that your sound card has. The parameters would be things like IRQ and IO raqnge. Was this a result of YaST;s autodetection or did you try and select a driver? You can cat into the /proc directory to see where the sound card sits on the IRQ and I/O range. If the driver that you are trying to load is indeed the one that you need, then you may need to tell the driver on what I/O and IRQ range the sound card sits. I'm not sure what parameters that module takes. Others on this list may help you in determining that. . -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, We just do not have all the anwsers to make the impossible, possible."

I've had this before (with the AC'97). It was when I already had another sound card configured. To fix this I deleted the old sound card (in YaST) before having YaST install the AC'97. -- Darren Harmon http://www.darrenharmon1.uklinux.net

OK that clears up some of the trouble. I had the card already selected so I couldn't configure it a second time. Now when I do go the the correct entry and try and set the volume the fields for the volume are missing. I did try adding a SB live card but the card is too tall to fit in the machine.
